Reduce Your Pet's Nighttime CryingRelated articlesReduce Nighttime CryingDoesn’t it break your heart when you bring home a new pet and it cries all night. Not only is the pet miserable, you are too because you feel so bad and also, you want to sleep. There are steps you can take to make that new pet feel less anxious and get a good night’s sleep. Let’s begin with what we know about helping human babies sleep well at night.
It was not important whether the infant was in the same bed as the parents or in a separate bed, but it was important that the infant slept in the same place each time, and at the same time. Infants that did not have this consistency cried more at night, and experienced more chronic eczema and anxiety. Using this information, we can help our pets be less anxious, and have better health, by deciding where they are going to sleep and using that place consistently. We should also put the pet in its bed for nighttime sleep or naps at the same time every day. For very young pets who are not used to sleeping alone, it can help to place a wind-up alarm clock wrapped in a towel in their bed. The ticking clock sounds a little like a heartbeat and helps these babies feel they have company. To further decrease your new pet’s anxiety, use a comforting pheromone to put them at ease. We cannot smell these pheromones, but pets can, and they become calm and relaxed in their presence. The pheromone developed for dogs, Comfort Zone DAP or Dog Appeasing Pheromone, smells like the mother dog when she is nursing puppies. For cats, the pheromone is called Comfort Zone Feliway. Again, we can’t smell it, but cats and kittens can, and it makes them feel calm and relaxed. DAP and Feliway are available as atomizers for plugging into wall sockets. Using pheromone atomizers for an hour a day can provide calming environment that helps the pet happily adjust to its new home. 4 TIPS TO PREVENT A PET’S NIGHTTIME CRYING
The healthiest, most attractive dog bed ever developed is the Ortho Dream Sleeper. The cushion has orthopedic foam on one side and memory foam on the other. The cushion is covered with Sherpa fleece and microsuede so your pet can choose a cool surface or cuddle in the fleece. The bed has a bumper that elevates your pet’s head at a perfect height to align its spine. The cover is entirely washable. Sweet dreams.
